Archon
For environmental labs concerned about improving productivity, the ArchonTM purge and trap autosampler achieves the highest possible sample throughput and gives the highest confidence in the quality of data produced. The unique features of the Archon provide the ultimate automated solution for water and soils analyses (EPA 500/600 and EPA 8000 series methods).

Unique Hot Water Rinse System
With Archon, the entire sample pathway including the sparge vessel are automatically rinsed with 100°C blank water followed by a programmable helium flush, guaranteeing minimum carryover, increased confidence in analytical results, and faster cycle times. Plus, dynamic headspace sampling for higher boiling analytes is achievable with Archon's high temperature (up to 250°C) valves and transfer lines.

Largest Sample Capacity
A removable 51 position sample tray accepts water or soil samples in any order for random analysis, and Archon's small footprint doesn't take up unnecessary benchspace. Up to twenty methods can be stored for maximum flexibility.

Mode of Operation
Prior to transferring water samples to the sparge vessel, programmable amounts of internal and matrix spike standards may be added from either of two reservoirs, saving time and improving analytical precision. In addition, water samples may be automatically diluted up to 100 times. Following the purge cycle, sample pathways are flushed with helium, rinsed with hot water, and flushed with helium once more. The number of flush and rinse cycles after each sample is programmable up to ten times.

Solid samples, such as soil, contained within either standard patented SoilVials or special, needle sparge vessels are placed directly into the sample tray. After programmable amounts of diluent water and standards are added, Archon mechanically stirs and heats the sample up to 125°C to maximize analyte recovery. Purging of analytes is done directly from the vial, and afterwards, the sample pathway is cleaned with a high flow of helium.
